Account Recovery

In this article

If you want to change your password, or you have forgotten the one you set, you can reset it yourself in about a minute. You do not need an old password to do it.

Both routes below send the same kind of email and lead to the same place. Use whichever is more convenient.

From the Login Page

This is the usual route, and it works whether or not you can currently sign in.

1Go to glubler.com/auth
2Click Forgot Password? under the login form
3Enter your email address and click Send
4Open the email Glubler sends you and follow the link
5Choose a new password

From Settings

If you are already signed in and simply want a different password, the same option is in your settings.

  1. Open Settings from your profile picture
  2. Go to the Password section
  3. Click Send Reset Link
  4. Follow the link in the email and set a new password

Note: Reset links are valid for one hour. If yours expires before you get to it, request a new one and use the latest email, because earlier links stop working as soon as you ask for a replacement.

If You Cannot Find the Email

If nothing arrives, work through this list before requesting again:

  • Check your spam or junk folder. It is an automated message and often gets filtered.
  • Search for emails from Glubler, including in promotions and other filtered tabs.
  • Make sure you typed the address you actually sign in with. If you signed up with Google, it is the Google email address.
  • Check that you are using that same address to sign in. Glubler matches accounts by email, so signing in with Google opens the existing account rather than creating a new one.

You only have one email on the account

Glubler does not have backup email addresses, phone numbers, or recovery codes, so the reset link to your original address is the only route in. This means keeping access to that inbox matters more than it would on a service with several ways back in.

Password Rules

Your new password has to meet the same rules as when you signed up:

  • At least 8 characters long
  • At least one lowercase letter
  • At least one capital letter
  • At least one special character, such as ! or ?

A long passphrase like correct-horse-Battery-9 satisfies all four and is far easier to remember than a short scrambled one.

If Your Account Was Hacked

If you think someone else has got into your account, do this in order. The first step is the urgent one.

  1. Reset your password immediately. Use either route above. Do this first, before anything else.
  2. Check your email address in Settings → Account and change it if it is not one you recognise.
  3. Sign out of everything using Sign Out All Sessions in Settings → Login Activity. This ends every device at once.
  4. Review your login activity in the same section and look for sign-ins you do not recognise.
  5. Export your Glublers from Settings → Data, so you have a copy of your collections.

Get in touch. If someone has been in your account, or if you cannot get back in at all, email g@glubler.com and tell us what has happened. Include your username and the email address on the account, and we will help you get it back.

Keeping Your Account Safe

There is no two-factor authentication and no phone number on Glubler, so a few habits are worth building:

  • Use a password you only use here. If it is the same as your email password, one breach puts both at risk.
  • Use a password manager, so the password can be long and random without you having to remember it.
  • Keep your email account secure, with its own strong password. Since email is the only way back into Glubler, it is the weakest link.
  • Check Login Activity now and then. It is the quickest way to notice something wrong.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need my old password to reset?

No. The reset link proves ownership of your email address, which is all that is required. You can reset it whether or not you remember the current password.

How long is the reset link valid?

One hour. If it expires, request another one and use the most recent email.

Why did I not get the email?

Most often because the request is for an address that is not on the account, or because the message was filtered. Check your spam folder, and confirm the address is the one you sign in with.

What if I no longer have access to that email address?

This is the one situation Glubler cannot resolve automatically, because email is the only way in. Contact us at g@glubler.com and we will work it out with you from there.

Can I add a backup email or phone number?

Not at the moment. Glubler does not use phone numbers and there is only one email per account, which is why keeping access to your inbox is the most important thing you can do.

Does changing my password log me out everywhere?

No, not by itself. If you want to be certain nobody else is signed in, use Sign Out All Sessions in Settings → Login Activity straight afterwards.

Is there two-factor authentication?

No. Glubler relies on a strong password and secure access to your email. A long, unique password and a password manager are the practical substitute.
